Great Turnout at July 4th Celebration in Kaohsiung

This year Democrats Abroad Taiwan threw a 4th of July celebration at "Join Us" in Kaohsiung. A good time was had by all. A raffle drawing was held that included bound copies of President Obama's inauguration address, Obama t-shirts ....and yes, a President Obama paper doll book. The Kaohsiung Improv League performed in their "Final" championship round for the season and then Pan-Africana played jammin' beats early into the morning.

Thanks to all those who came out for our first movie night (All The President’s Men) last night at Yuma’s! About ten members got together and enjoyed some great food and a classic film with some pretty scary parallels to the attempts of the Bush administration to mute dissenting voices on the war on terror after 9/11. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it before... A few of us lingered behind discussing, among other things, traditional investigative journalism of the type Woodward and Bernstein are so well known for versus newer models of journalism like blogging and crowd sourcing.
